French language curriculum
updated as of Spring 2020

Two days a week at the STAR Language, your child’s coach will be ready to guide with assigned worksheets.

We proudly offer all French courses in full immersion – All classes are taught completely in French. STAR strives to focus on practical skills – the content is exciting and focused on real teaching exercises. French tutoring is a mix of grammar, reading, vocab, writing exercises, listening exercises, and speaking.

French language class breakdown
  • STAR classes are 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the age of the group, based on preliminary assessment.
  • Our coaches drill grammar exercises for each grammar concept: tense, when to use articles, definite articles, and indefinite articles
  • STAR reading: a small reading article with multiple choice questions that follow. Students pick out the vocab, categorize into nouns, verbs, prepositions. Vocabulary, grammar and reading become the pillars of this course
  • Writing, listening and speaking are gauged on skill level and will differ based on how strong the student is within each category

STAR aims to guide, assess and encourage your child to help maximize success inside and outside of school.

Learn about our IB French program
From grammaire to graduate

At STAR, we take the French immersion and IB French programs very seriously. With IB, we advise that course materials will test students rigorously. Reading materials are more advanced, the content is not about stories, but about issues. Students explore culture, environment, social issues, and articles geared toward scientific and historical developments around the world. In IB French the discussions we share are more challenging and student writing styles approach mastery.

STAR IB French program employs collaborative classes. The benefit of our focused class sizes is to work with students around the same level as your child, but to challenge each other with thoughts, thought process, and opinions. See how STAR can have your child engaged with school again.

Succeed beyond the classroom. Be prepared for the future, today.
